Project Description: Researchers at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences have maintained an acoustic receiver array network in the Moriches Bay/Moriches Inlet/Shinnecock Bay in Long Island's South Shore since 2017. This project is intended for tracking seasonal movements, habitat usage, and migration patterns of American horseshoe crabs. A total of 30 receivers are maintained annually (April-December) along the south shore of Long Island. This acoustic telemetry array has been funded by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
