Project Title: Behavior of Non-Migratory Striped Bass Population in a Salt Pond of Martha’s Vineyard

Project Description: Our research examines the presence, behavior, and predator/prey interactions of a non-migratory population of striped bass. The study site is Squibnocket Pond in Aquinnah MA, a brackish water pond with a single access egress via a narrow creek. We seek to examine the movements and behavior of this overwintering population in relation to the presence and abundance of spawning river herring populations, a culturally important indigenous fishery.
